TV and Coffee by Blur - MV Analysis

        The music video and the song's lyric make me think some interpretations toward this music video that will be interpreted. From my perspective, the themes of this music video could be family relationship and feminism.

       As you know, this song was written by the guitarist and based on his experience that was about his relation with his family. I think this music video itself showed about the guitarist experience showed by some scenes below:

The boy was missing and showed by the milk’s cartoon. His parents hope the milk’s cartoon would spread everywhere and somebody would find where the boy was.

Luckily, after searched the boy for a long time, the boy itself was found the milk’s cartoon in a place where he usually had some time with his friend. Realizing that his family was searching for him, he decided to go home and joined together with his family again, showed these scenes:

Then, the other interpretation was about feminism that depicted quite clear in this music video. When I watched this music video, I was questioning “Why is a boy always depicted in a blue shirt and a girl in a pink shirt? Even the milk’s cartoon showed that too.” I think it was like judging the girl, that she should wore pink clothes and the boy could wear blue or other color of clothes like grey. Perhaps, it was people common knowledge at the time where boys and girls should be like that though I think it was not quite please to see. Those showed in some scenes below:

          By the end, the songs’ effects are that no matter our problem is, no matter what happen to us, no matter how bad our relation with our family, we will come back to our family and our parents. Home is a place where we can share our problems, a place to escape from reality that we may not want to face, and there is no place like home.
