Brick by Boring Brick by Paramore: Part 1 - Video Analysis

Brick by Boring Brick. I love this song, I love the band, I know the song so well, and I love the video even more, that was my first impression toward this song. When you watch this music video, you might only think, this video is about a dream, kind of a nightmare at the end of the story. On the onter hand, this video shows more.
From my perspective, this video is about a monarch program, means a program on how to control children’s mind to protect the children from their traumatic events. However, the bad side of this program is to torture the children by creating a Multiple Personality Disorder. The name of the monarch itself was taken from the Monarch butterfly, where we can saw it from the video:

The girl was wearing wings of Monarch Butterfly’s wings means that her mind was under control by the Monarch program.

A monarch program seems creating an illusion to the children or to make them confused. The purpose of this is to make the children could not differentiate between the reality and fantasy at the same time.

In this music video, it was depicted some torture’s forms of Monarch program, there are:                          

Blinding Light: depicted as something to make the girl feels confuse.

Confinement in a form of oxygen’s air-tube

                       

       

The flower and the mushroom are depicted as drugs to create the illusion and confusion. Here, the girl was attracted to those things.

The man’s depiction which eating animals to make the girl feels disgust. 

It is also depicted, the girl sees that her doll turns into a scary doll. Her mother perhaps turns into a wicked witch, and even herself turns into an ugly kid. This method is to make the children scared and make them create other personalities to avoid the pain or what they scared.

The last torture’s form is depicted in this video was burial. I think ‘the burial’ here means buried the children true personality and make new multiple personalities in the children.
