That
song’s lyrics also related to some clips in the music video, for instance
Cleopatra was depicted as the most beautiful queen in her era and chased by the
kings, even Firaun. Below were the kings’ pictures that proposed Cleopatra to
be their queen. I think each of them represent a different era of the king. For
instance, the third picture was Scorpion king showed by his carriage that has a
scorpion symbol. The fourth was Firaun showed by his gift to Cleopatra in a
form of Pyramid.
Unfortunately, Cleopatra was depicted only wanted their wealth
and position. Cleopatra used her beauty to seduce them and turned them into her
puppet. In the video, it was showed by Katy who turned those kings into a dust.
Another
interpretation was from the music’s video. I agreed with Ester’s interpretation
that the song was about Feminism, which was a woman (Cleopatra) could rule a
kingdom and very powerful, especially to the men. In addition, this music video
also portrayed that a woman like Queen Cleopatra likes wealth, diamond,
delicious, and all expensive things; and I think that was also part of women’s
nature. Those were depicted in some scenes below:
The
other Information was about some Egypt’s symbols in the music video that I
found on websites, for examples:
![]() |
Eye
of Horus à symbolized as a human eye and this eye also used as a talisman,
and as a system for measurement.
The
sun boat or the sun barge à I think this video shows the evening sun boat
because there was a sunset. Thus the evening sun boat was, “Ra
journeyed from noon until sunset on the Sektet boat to the terrifying realm of
the Underworld” (land of pyramids.com)
In
this picture, there were Egypt’s gods that were Anubis, Horus, and Uraeus
Cobra. Anubis was the god of the dead, tombs
and embalming, and symbolized as a dog. Horus (Anubis’ sibling) was the god of
the monarchy’s protector, courage & vanquishing enemies, and symbolized as
a falcon. Uraeus Cobra was represented as an emblem of supreme power and authority.
Finally, the song’s effects for me
are, I can learn more about Egypt history especially about Cleopatra; Egypt’s
symbols that are interesting to know and to read; and as a woman, I know that
women can rule the world better than the men and to be on top of the world.
