An extraordinary
relationship à Homosexual
However,
those lyrics can be about two people who are broken up and they become enemy
after they broke up. One of them may accuse the other one who becomes a
homosexual as a result of their end relationship. It shows on some lines that I
bold are using slang and idiomatic expressions are found in the lyrics.Am I more than you bargained for yet?
I've been dying to tell you anything you want to hear
'Cause that's just who I am this week
Lie in the grass, next to the mausoleum
I'm just a notch in your bedpost
But you're just a line in a song
(A notch in your bedpost)
(But you're just a line in a song)
--> This stanza tells us that there a homosexual couples who break up and one of them has tell about the truth. One of them is angry because he/she just one of many persons that he/she has slept with. He/she also said to his/her lover is nothing special for him/her.
*Drop
a heart; break a name
We're always sleeping in,
and sleeping for the wrong teamWe're always sleeping in,
--> This stanza means the couples already know that they are a homosexual, and one of them might aware that he/she should not continue their relationship.
**We're going down, down in an earlier round
And Sugar, we're going down swinging
I'll be your number one with a bullet
A loaded God complex, cock it and pull it (2 xs)
--> This stanza tells us, one of them knows that their relationship will end soon; because one of them might tire that his/her couples only think about him/her in a painful way. That’s why he/she is angry because his/her couple is not the most important person in the world.
Is this more than you bargained for yet?
Oh don't mind me I'm watching
you two from the closet
Wishing to be the friction in your jeans
Isn't it messed up how I'm just dying to be him?
I'm just a notch in your bedpost
But you're just a line in a song
--> This stanza tells one of them knows that his/her couples are still homosexuals who are hiding their sexuality. Thus, one of them might still want to be intimate with his/her couples.
We're going down, down (Down, down)
Down, down (Down, down)
We're going down, down (Down, down)
--> This stanza emphasizes that their relationship will break up very soon and there is no way to get along again.
From the above interpretations, that occasion might rarely
happen in our live but we still can find it. Since nowadays, homosexual or gay
is not something taboo anymore and we see that in our campus also.
In addition, this song also tells about Fall Out Boy’s
background that they write the song inspirited by sugar and honey. According to
Patrick Stump and Pete Wentz, the three lines from the first stanza “Am I more than … just who I am this week”
tells about their feeling to their fans, does their song is not enough for
them, they are feeling tired of the pressure that they get from the fans, and
tell to their fans that they have done their best.
