This
story begins
when Madame Valmonde drove over to L‘abri to see Desiree and her baby. She
remembered when she met Desiree and adopted her as her child. When Desiree
reached in the age of 18, she grew into a beautiful woman that became the idol
of Valmonde. One day, Armand Aubigny saw her and he fell in love with her.
After that, they married and the conflict began when Desiree gave a birth. Armand
shocked that his baby was black, curly, and Negro, not like her mother or her
father. Then Armand knew that Desiree is adopted by Madame Voldame and he
concluded that Desiree was a Negro. Desiree defended herself that she was not Negro
but Armand didn’t believe in her. Desiree was very sad about every word that
Armand said about her. Desiree wrote a letter to her mother to tell her that
she was not a Negro or black or anything. Madame Voldame replied her letter
that she should go home with her baby. Some weeks later, when Desiree had
already home, Armand had just known that Desiree left her lots of letter, and
he also found a bundle of another letters which was actually her mother letter
that she sent to his father long time ago. Finally, Armand knew that the one
who was a Negro was Armand’s mother not Desiree, and he knew it after he read
his mother letter.
